Some of you may remember, but for those of you that don't ... about a month ago I was offered a job. I hadn't applied for it; their recruiter found my resume on one of the major online resume posting services. It was an easy enough job: drive people around and make 16 bucks an hour doing it.
The offer sounded pretty sweet to me so I followed up on it. It was a part-time position, I was told. I would come out between 20-30 hours a week. Still, hourly-wise, it was still a decent chunk of money and since I had none flowing in at the time, I accepted. This was good because they needed a driver RIGHT AWAY, and I'd be starting that Wednesday. I got the name of my contact and the schedule: starting at 7:15 am, Wednesday and Thursday.
Wednesday came and I did my thing, during the course of which I was informed that I would not be needed on Thursday as all the testing data they collected was of good quality and no further collection was necessary. Okay, kind of a bummer, but I still scored about 12 hours, which would give me a little something to put in the bank. Besides, I'd have another assignment next week.
Right?
Wrong.
Nothing for the next week. Or the one after that. OR the one after THAT. Until I got a call this past Tuesday, stating they needed a driver for Monday of next week. And that was it.
Now, I don't mind part-time work, but one freakin' day a month just isn't paying the bills.
So, it's back to the job search and the worry and the stress and where the hell are we gonna get money for food and rent and whatever else we need oh shit my insurance is due on the truck and I still have to get money for that ...
*deep breath*
Anyway, so ends my rant. Back to the hunt.
